In 2000, Liege will be one of the 9 cities in Belgium and The Netherlands that will host the European Football Championship. While preparations are in full swing, football fans are already looking forward to the European competition. The matches will take place in the Standard of Liege football stadium, which offers luxury spectator-boxes for businesses.

Around the event, the city has organised numerous cultural and sporting activities under the name Euro Celebration. These celebrations will start with the ‘Adventure Sports Fair’ in March and end with the ‘International Show Jumping of Liege’ in October. And while the actual Football Championship is going on in June, visitors are welcome at the ‘Liege and its inhabitants, today and tomorrow’ exhibition. This exhibition provides an overview of several aspects of current and future life in Liege, including ‘Economy, New Technology and Creativity’, ‘Design and Culture’ and ‘Communications and the People from Liege’.
