From time immemorial man has invented and developed his surroundings. However, in the course of time the relationship between man and machine has changed. Nowadays machinery can help man, but also control his life, dominate him and even replace him. This theme is explored at the exhibition Man and Machine from 6 March to 21 June in the Caserne Fonck, organised by the Province of Liège in co-operation with the History of Science and Technology Centre of the University of Liège and the House of Science.

By means of a voyage of discovery through time and space the exhibition explains thousands of years of human adventures, varying from the pulley to the computer. The exhibition is the beginning of a dialogue concerning technology and its applications and the relationship between technology, work and society. An appropriate subject for Liège which has one of the fastest growing technology sectors in Europe.

Commune with nature just a stone throw from Liège

The Signal de Botrange near Ovifat is Belgium's highest point where nature is at its wildest and the nearby Domaine des Hauts Fagnes is the ideal location for combining work with a few days of sport, leisure and relaxation. At this business centre a wide range of sports activities are possible, including walks through the nature reserve, visits to monuments and historical sites and rental of mountain bikes. In the event of snow, cross-country and down-hill skiing can be enjoyed not far from the business centre.

The Domaine des Hauts Fagnes has a special team of instructors which offers participants a range of activities organised in the surroundings. The centre itself has a banqueting room that can seat up to 350 guests and a comfortable hotel with 70 stylishly appointed rooms. The Domaine is just 30 minutes from the city of Liège and is located in the largest nature reserve of Belgium, where life seems to flow at its own pace.
