The Hautes Fagnes nature reserve

A captivating stroll in the country

It could be a sunny, rainy, snowy or misty day... Whatever the weather let the Hautes Fagnes region tempt you with one of its attractions, its mosaic of landscapes will enchant you, the colours creating natural paintings in various shades of yellow, green and brown.

What a view!

To reach the "Réserve Naturelle des Hautes Fagnes" from the city of Liege, it will take you 30 minutes by car travelling in the direction of Germany. It is the largest nature reserve in the country, covering some 3,975 hectares. It is also the highest point in Belgium with the "Signal de Botrange" reaching 700 m.

The Battle of the Bulge

There's the opportunity to wander along one of the numerous paths and appreciate the flora, wildlife and fresh air around you. And take the time to remember... A cross in remembrance of the crew of the American plane shot down in 1945 reminds us that the Battle of the Bulge extended to the Hautes Fagnes nature reserve.

In winter when snow is falling, it's time for downhill skiing, sledging and cross-country skiing.

Ready for a Spa?

Water re-surfaces not far from the Hautes Fagnes, this highly pure mineral water is bottled by the famous Spa water company, ending up in glasses all over the world. It is also used for health treatment at the Spa thermal baths in the city that gave its name to a well-known aquatic pleasure (the spa, of course!)

Here life seems to flow at its own pace...
